	Blake’s Guide to Herbs & Ingredients:

	Blackstrap Molasses Good source of iron. Can help shrink cancerous tumours, relieve anxiety, constipation, arthritic and joint pain. Softens skin, boosts energy and stamina. Blackstrap has the highest healing qualities of all types of molasses.

	Brewers Yeast Good source of zinc and B Vitamins. Repels fleas,helps heal skin irritations and hot spots.

	Free Range Eggs A complete protein and a good source of Vitamin A. Free-range means richer, healthier yolks due to the variety of vegetable matter in the hen's diet. No steroids or antibiotics as from battery hen egg production.

	Garlic Good for circulatory, urinary and immune systems. Nourishes stomach tissues, maintains normal blood pressure and aids in resisting disease. A natural antibiotic and fungicide. Helps repel fleas.

	Ginger Nourishes the gastrointestinal system. Helps eliminate wastes through the skin. Enhances circulation and acts as a catalyst for other herbs, increasing their effectiveness. Has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Excellent for relieving arthritis. Helps relieve congestion. Contains high levels of Potassium, Magnesium, Copper, Manganese and Vitamin B6. Good for travel sickness and nausea.

	Kelp Rich in Iodine, B Complex Vitamins, D, E, K, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium and Sodium. Balances the body's metabolism and nourishes the pituitary and thyroid glands. Good for the nervous system and brain function. Restores poor pigment in animals. Antibacterial and excellent for the coat.

	Linseed Also known as flaxseed. Rich in Omega 3 and Vitamin E. Used to soothe an irritated stomach, intestines or bladder. Improves quality and strength of hair and nails.

	Manuka Honey Honey has been known for its many healing properties for thousands of years. Active Manuka is the only honey laboratory tested for a special antibacterial activity called UMF (Unique Manuka Factor). The rating increases with the strength of the antibacterial activity. Low activity: 8-10%, Medium: 10-15%, High: 15% plus. Boosts the immune system, aids digestion, has anti-inflammatory effects on arthritis. Blake's Bikkits Honey Wafers contain UMF15%.

	Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Used as a folk medicine through the ages, apple cider vinegar has made a comeback. High in minerals and trace elements Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Sodium and Iron. Also high in Vitamins C, E, A, B1, B2, B6, Beta-Carotene and Bioflavonoids. Good for skin allergies, helps relieve arthritic symptoms and acid reflux, reduces common infections, helps prevent bladder stones and urinary tract infections. Improves coat quality in animals.

	Parsley Cleanses and purifies the blood. Regulates blood pressure and freshens the breath. High in Vitamin A which keeps moisture in ears, nose, eyes and throat, preventing infection. Without Vitamin A, a dog's nose loses it's sense of smell.

	Rainwater Blake's Bikkits are always made with pure filtered water — no chlorine, fluorides or metals included.
	Rice Bran Oil Lowers cholesterol and may have potential as an anti-cancer and anti-infection agent. Contains Vitamin E and is good for cardiovascular health — antioxidants gamma-oryzanol, tocotrienols and tocopherols have been shown in studies to help reduce plaque build-up on artery walls. Also has a concentrated antioxidant to extend pet food shelf life.

	Rice Flour Completely gluten-free. Made from brown rice, used as a substitute for wheaten flour. Consistent with Celiac Society guidelines. Pets are becoming more commonly allergic to gluten.

	Rosemary Contains strong anti-inflammatory agents and antioxidants. Stimulates the circulatory and nervous systems. Helps relieve muscle pain, rheumatism and eczema. Aids digestion, stimulates hair growth, protects the liver and provides anti-tumour activity. Good for eye health.

	Sage Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Aids digestion, balances hormones, treats diarrhoea, assists healing of wounds and scabs. Promotes healthy brain function. Has an anti-gas, calming effect on the nerves.

	Salmon One of the richest sources of Omega-3 fatty acids which are important in the prevention of heart problems and controlling inflammatory conditions like arthritis. Also needed for healthy brain function.

	Thyme Antiseptic and anti-fungal. Improves digestion,relaxes spasms, controls coughing. Useful for treating kennel cough in dogs. Good for respiratory problems, gastritis and diarrhoea. Helps remove uric acid, so is used for gout, arthritis and rheumatism, while stimulating the digestion and urinary tract. Helps expel worms.
